OMAHA, Neb. – Shawn Nolte, Werner Enterprises Operations Supervisor, received the Patriotic Employer award June 5, from Lou Wagner, a Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve volunteer and Omaha area chair.

The award was in recognition of outstanding support of his employee serving in the Guard and Reserve. Nolte was nominated for being highly supportive of the Army National Guard by Capt. Robert Hooper, Nebraska Army National Guard.

Hooper noted in his nomination that Shawn has been the most supportive supervisor he could have hoped for in his military career. He further stated Werner sent care packages to him during his deployment as well as providing gift cards for his spouse during holiday seasons. He was also promoted to Fleet Manager after his return and continues to work with Shawn on a regular basis.

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Wagner in his presentation. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units, and it’s a pleasure for me to recognize Shawn and the Werner team with this award.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
